What are the requirements to obtain the IBA

Please go to the IBAO Downloads page of our website and read the PDF "IBA Requirements" for a full explanation of all IBA Requirements.  We have included a summary of the IBA Requirements below.   After you are familiar with all the requirements for the IBA, you would then register as an IBA Candidate (Registration, not Addition cost is $299.00).  After you access your online account, you can upload any requirements that you have met.

IBA - International Behavior Analyst - Certification requiring a master’s degree or bachelor’s degree and projects for the non-master’s experience route, 270 hours of REOs, 1000 hours of practice, 50 hours of supervision, candidate skills testing, CEUs, and the IBA Exam.

IBA candidates have a choice between two different routes.  One is the master's route, and one is the experience route (bachelor's degree).  If you choose the experience route, you will be required to complete two additional projects prior to sitting for the IBA online exam.  The REOs are a list of topics that are required to be taught in the 270 hours of training/coursework you must obtain as a requirement for certification. The REOs are provided by organizations other than IBAO. These organizations are the Approved Content Providers (ACPs). There is a list on the website of all the IBA ACPs.   Also, REOs can be accepted by any ABAI Verified Course Sequence (VCS).

After you register as an IBA candidate you can request a supervisor and begin submitting your practice and supervision hours within your online account.  After you have completed all the requirements, you can sit for the exam.
